My name is Adabacar Diop, I am a lawyer, member of the Droit et Toile  
advisory committee (http://www.droit-et-toile.net) network; I am the  
President of the  Association JONCTION, and represent CREIS in  
Senegal (http://www.creis.sgdg.org/).

As one of the contributors has said, the theme poses serious legal  
problems.

That's why in Senegal, as mentioned by my Friend Viye Diba (with whom  
I have worked on the OSIRIS multimedia caravane project) a draft law  
dealing with copyrights and related rights is being discussed. It  
defines a work [l'oeuvre] as "any intellectual original creation in  
the literary or artistic domain" (Toute création intellectuelle  
originale dans le domaine littéraire ou artistique); and it defines  
the "Author" as "the individual that creates a work" (La personne  
physique qui crée l’œuvre). These definitions are problematic when we  
relate them to the information society...

I think I will stop there until we go deeper into the discussions.
